I. Preamble
72 Records ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you visit our website at 72records.be or make a purchase from our shop.
We act as the data controller for the personal data we process. Our registered address is Rue du Midi 72, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. You can contact us at hello@72records.be for any privacy-related questions.
II. Data we collect
Four kinds of data, each with a reason.
- Order information
- Name, email address, shipping address, billing address, phone number, and payment details. This data is necessary to fulfill your order and is processed on the basis of contractual necessity.
- Account information
- Email address and name when you create an account. Account creation is optional and is based on your consent.
- Newsletter subscription
- Email address when you subscribe to our newsletter. This is based on your explicit consent and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Analytics data
- With your consent, we use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how visitors use the shop — which pages are viewed, how the checkout funnel performs, and aggregate usage patterns. Analytics are disabled until you accept the cookie banner, and you can decline without any effect on browsing or buying.
III. Cookies
What we set, and what you opt into.
We use strictly necessary cookies that are required for the site to function, plus optional analytics cookies that are only set once you give consent. These include:
- Session cookies to maintain your shopping cart and login state
- CSRF protection cookies for form security
- Theme preference stored in your browser's local storage
- Analytics cookies (PostHog), set only after you accept the cookie banner
Analytics cookies are optional and off by default — they are only set once you accept. We do not use advertising cookies or share data with advertising networks.
IV. Third-party services
Who else touches your data, and for what.
We share your data with the following third-party service providers, only to the extent necessary to operate our business:
- Stripe
- Payment processing. Your payment information is handled directly by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
- SendCloud
- Shipping and logistics. Your name and shipping address are shared to generate shipping labels and tracking.
- Resend
- Transactional and newsletter emails. Your email address is shared to deliver order confirmations and newsletter content.
- PostHog
- Product analytics, hosted in the EU. With your consent, anonymised usage data helps us understand and improve the shop.
V. Data retention
We retain your order data for as long as required by Belgian accounting and tax law (currently 7 years). Account data is retained until you request deletion. Newsletter subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe.
VI. Your rights under GDPR
Six rights, plainly stated.
As a data subject under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:
- Access
- You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification
- You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure
- You can request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Restriction
- You can ask us to restrict the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Portability
- You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection
- You can object to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@72records.be. We will respond to your request within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit).
